Glanbia Ingredients Ireland (GII) has a long history of processing butter that dates back to 1968, when our Ballyragget plant opened. Remaining at the heart of the business ever since, we now have a wealth of experience to draw on across anhydrous milk fat (AMF) butter oil fractions, salted and unsalted sweet cream butter, lactic butter and technical butter. Combined with our high-quality, sustainable milk pool, this allows us to serve markets all over the world with exceptional butter ingredients and branded butter products.
Benefits and applications
The rich Irish pasturelands that our dairy cows graze on help to make one of the softest, most spreadable butters in the world.
But it’s not just its texture that makes it stand out. Studies have shown that a number of bioactive ingredients are naturally higher in the milk of cows that graze on fresh pastures than that of grain-fed animals – including higher levels of conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs).
In addition, butter from grass-fed animals is typically higher in the nutrients Omega 3, Beta carotene and vitamin A. Our butter and butterfats are used in applications such as:
- Retail and food services
- Processed and functional cheese
- Ice cream
- Soups, sauces and ready meals
- Bakery ingredients
Working with an international network of customers, we can tailor the exact characteristics of our products in this area based on specific customer requirements and different international consumer tastes. Through our versatility, established supply chain and highly efficient butter operation, we serve markets across the EU, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East with both industrial and retail products.
