At Glanbia Ingredients Ireland (GII), we’re at the forefront of whey protein processing and technologies. We’ve been processing whey protein at our Ballyragget plant for four decades, and in 2012 invested a further €21m in whey protein operations at the site. In the process, we’ve developed a wide range of top-quality, highly specialised whey protein concentrate (WPC) and whey protein isolate (WPI) variants.
Benefits and applications
To produce our WPC powders, we spray-dry ultrafiltered whey with protein levels ranging from 28% to 35%. Our WPI powders have a minimum protein level of 88%, thanks to a process of microfiltration. Our whey proteins are also available in heat-stable variants. Our WPI is derived from our pasture-fed cows using state-of-the-art technology, which produces a clean, natural flavour.
We supply these value-adding and sustainable whey protein ingredients globally, tailored to customers’ needs, across a range of application areas, including:
- Sports nutrition
- Infant formula
- Nutritional foods and supplements
- Ice cream
- Yoghurt and desserts
- Confectionery and food blends
Common product characteristics across our different WPC and WPI solutions include:
- An excellent, clean dairy flavour
- Excellent nutritional value
